X - A Guidebook examines the book's form, content and conditions through collage and intertextuality.

If the traditional view of the book is that of a container whose contents and meaning is complete and fixed between the covers, the concept of intertextuality opens up new readings. Intertextuality presents the book as a text woven in threads from the "already written" and "already read". With collage as the method for creating references, X - A Guidebook is placed in a larger and more complex context. Through its construction of "already written" material it challenges ingrained beliefs about borrowing, theft, originality, uniqueness and the role of the reader.
